Final Reminders for the 2018 Assaults on Mt. Mitchell & Marion presented by Greenville Health System.
We look forward to welcoming you to Spartanburg this weekend! Packet Pickup & Expo is taking place at the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium (385 N. Church Street, Spartanburg) this Sunday, May 13, beginning at 1:00 pm. If you cannot pick up your packet Sunday you may do so Monday morning between 5:45am-6:15.
If you are no longer riding and received this email, apologies, we are still working to remove riders from the final rider list.
Finish times will populate to this link at approximately 6:30-7pm or as soon as we can get wifi as we leave the summit.
IMPORTANT ROUTE INFORMATION
All roads on the course are OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. There will be police/monitors at intersections but it is imperative that riders respect all road users and place the highest priority on safety. Ultimately the safety of the ride depends on the behavior of the riders themselves. Please review the attached safety guide and don’t forget a headlight (needed for tunnels)!
2018 COURSE MARKING TO FOLLOW
Information about the rides, a spectator’s guide, event policies, FAQ, the Cue Sheet and more are also available on our website. Click here for the Ride with GPS link. Please pay close attention to the event policies as a light is REQUIRED due to unlit tunnels. Many of these policies are dictated to us from the Parkway and Mitchell State Park and riders MUST adhere to them. Please note, while we take as many precautions as possible to ensure your safety on the course, be aware the course is an open road with no road closures only police presence at large intersections and turns. The ride goes through many different areas including residential and state parks so cyclists are exposed to outside elements. Please stay aware of your surroundings.
Packet Pick-up and Expo
The Packet Pick-up and Expo will be held Sunday, May 13 from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium (385 North Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29303). Packets will also be available on Monday morning between 5:45am-6:15 am.
Packets will be organized according to bib number, so please bring this number with you. We will also have a bib list posted in the auditorium in case you have forgotten yours.
You MUST bring a photo ID to retrieve your packet/BIB. As in past years, no one else will be able to pick up your packet for you. If you cannot pick up your packet in person on Sunday, we will have packets/BIB available the morning of the ride from 5:30 to 6:15 a.m.
You MUST sign a 2018 Event Release Form, and you will have the opportunity to purchase an optional $10 one-day event coverage policy from US Cycling. A one-day policy and annual policy offer coverage for the ride, but it is not mandatory.

Technicians will be stationed at Rest Stops along the route to assist with MINOR bike issues. Thank you to TREK, Yellow Bike Tours and Performance Bicycle for providing this support. There will be roving techs along the route who can assist with VERY MINOR issues as well. While we offer this service, it is always best to be prepared with your own small kit. A firm schedule of tech locations is attached. Finally, we will have course marshals riding alongside riders who can offer assistance and encouragement.
At the Finish Line
When you dismount be prepared to remove all cycle computers, lights and water bottles.
You will have a dot on your bib directing bike handlers where to load your bike. Please confirm with the bike handlers where you want your bikes final destination to be. It will then be loaded safely onto the appropriate truck!
